The Butterfly house reflects and reminds all the fundamental elements of my work, such as flexibility, modularity, lightness, and movement, introduced in this project by the inclined shapes.

The modular houses are constituted of elements put together on the construction site, which represents a considerable time gain when compared to traditional construction works. All the pieces can be transported in a container and the assembly is quick and simple. Various layouts are possible from the base unit, allowing the structure to be adaptable to all topographies. The pilot model is constituted of two 50 sqm blocks that can be assembled in many possible configurations: side-by-side, intertwined, face-to-face, separated (linked by a common piece)… The platform size can also vary according to the number of blocks needed. Suitable for single-family homes, resort hotels or even a whole village, this system is extremely flexible and modular.

For the pilot project, the structural beams are made of metal. The completion is made with an aluminum composite panel, and the façade is covered with sunbreakers that filter the natural light and give rhythm to the façade. I do not impose only one kind of material. I think that a very important aspect of the concept is that we can change the materials; there is a list of the materials that can work together, and we can adapt to have a house that corresponds to any tastes, a way of life and location.
